The Project

This project stems from the necessity to introduce a new kind of tour in Florence. After my first year as a tour guide, I realized I was merely one of many offering mass tours. Florence is undeniably marvelous but has the capacity to engulf visitors in the whirlwind of overwhelming tourism.
International agencies increasingly provide packages limiting the Florence visit to just three days. Three days Florence is insufficient to fully experience Florence, trust me. Everyone is in a rush, attempting to cover everything in such a short time.

I felt I was losing sight of the true purpose of this service – to delve into the soul of what I affectionately call ‘essence’. Flora’s Walk embraces a slower pace, seeking to slow down, find some silence, and find the sacredness of the city somewhat concealed by its beauty. It achieves this through the five senses – capturing the scents of the city, immersing in churches, experiencing music and meditation, and narrating stories of the women and men who shaped this city into the cradle of beauty we know today.

We offer tours that delve into the history of the Medici family and other characters who made the difference in making Florence the city it is nowadays. A special attention is reserved to women. The Renaissance tour focuses on 3 women who took a great part in making Florence culturally rich. Our tours emphasize the lives of artists like Michelangelo, Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci, Donatello, and our classic museum tours are guided by unconventional themes. My absolute favorite is the tour centered on the five senses, allowing you to explore Florence at its deepest core. I’ve chosen to personally lead the majority of the tours I offer, entrusting some to colleagues and friends who excel in areas beyond my professional expertise, such as food and wine tours and photography expeditions.
